Vauxhall’s electric range continued its strong UK sales performance in February, topping the charts according to the latest new car and van registration figures published today by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT).
The Corsa Electric was the joint best-selling electric supermini in February, while the Mokka Electric was the best-selling electric compact crossover and leads the segment so far this year, with 954 sold.
Vauxhall was also the UK’s best-selling electric van manufacturer in February, while in the overall LCV market it is the UK’s second best-selling brand so far this year. Vauxhall, alongside its sister Stellantis brands, is the only brand to manufacture vans in volume in the UK, having recently announced that limited production of the Vivaro Electric will commence at its Luton factory during Spring next year. This follows the start of electric van production at Ellesmere Port in 2023 – the UK’s first electric-only volume manufacturing plant – with the Vauxhall Combo Electric.
Overall, Vauxhall is the third best selling brand across car and van sales so far in 2024, with its market share increasing by half a percentage point to 6.46% year-to-date. This represents 17,487 registrations, an increase of 19% compared to the same time last year in a market that is up 10%.
In the passenger car market, Vauxhall’s market share has risen from 5.21% to 5.76% year-to-date, while its share of the LCV market now stands at 10.18%, up from 9.77%.
