Newport city centre is to play host to a collection of classic cars and motorcycles next month. The Newport Now Business Improvement District (BID) is hosting the Festival of Classics on Saturday, June 10.
From 11am to 4pm, the High Street and Commercial Street areas of the city centre will have more than 80 classic cars & motorcycles on display.
There will also be surprise appearances from several star cars from TV shows and movies, and musical entertainment throughout the day. This includes three bands playing from noon at McCann’s Rock n Ale Bar in High Street.
Newport Now BID manager Kevin Ward said: “This is the first event of this kind the BID has organised and we are really looking forward to it. We think the appearance of so many classic vehicles plus the other entertainment we have lined up will bring many people into the city centre, where they can also experience some of the fantastic shops, eateries and businesses run by BID members. It is almost 10 years since the last classic car rally in the city centre and we intend this to become an annual event.”
City centre roads will be closed from 10am to 5pm on June 10 to allow the Festival of Classics to take place in a safe environment.
Anyone interested in exhibiting a classic car or motorcycle on the day should contact John Gibbon on 07854 574019.
