Flintoff Crashes Trike At 124 MPH During Filming

Top Gear host Andrew ‘Freddie’ Flintoff was reportedly involved in a scary accident during filming.

The BBC reports that the 41-year-old ex-England cricketer was riding a bespoke trike dubbed the ‘Time Bandit’ at Elvington Airfield near York when he allegedly ran out of runway after hitting up to 124 mph.

“I’m absolutely fine and was back filming today,” Flintoff told the BBC. “I go to great lengths to make sure I do well in Top Gear drag races but on this occasion I went a few lengths too far! It will look more ridiculous than dangerous when you see it on TV.”

Flintoff has only been co-hosting Top Gear with Chris Harris and Paddy McGuinness for a single season and already earned himself a reputation as being a little wild behind the wheel. First, he crashed a Subaru Brat during a race in the UK and in a separate accident, flipped and rolled a rally car while Harris and McGuinness were passengers.

“The health and safety of our presenters and crew on Top Gear is paramount,” a BBC Studios spokesperson said after Flintoff’s latest accident. “As viewers of the recent series will have seen, Freddie is often keen to get ‘off the beaten track’. Tuesday’s filming at Elvington Airfield was no exception – but he suffered no injuries as a result of his spontaneous detour, as fans will see for themselves when we show the sequence in full in the next series.”
