The Grand Tour is Back: New Presenters and Release Date Unveiled for 'Absolutely Wild' Reboot

It’s official: The Grand Tour is officially roaring back onto our screens, and it’s going to look a whole lot different than it used to.

Ever since Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May parked their cars for the last time in September 2024 with their emotional finale One for the Road, rumors have swirled about whether Amazon Prime Video would let one of its biggest franchises rest. Today, we got our answer—and it is an absolute curveball.

The Grand Tour is returning on September 4, 2026, with an entirely new, incredibly eclectic hosting trio.

Meet the new crew: James Engelsman, Thomas Holland, and Francis Bourgeois Meet the new crew: James Engelsman, Thomas Holland, and Francis Bourgeois.

Meet the "New Knobs"

Stepping into some of the biggest, most opinionated shoes in television history are three internet-native presenters who bring a completely fresh vibe to the motoring world:

Presenter Where You Know Them From What They Bring
Thomas Holland Co-creator of YouTube's massive car-review channel Throttle House Analytical car expertise, sharp editing, and seasoned on-screen chemistry.
James Engelsman Co-creator of YouTube's Throttle House Quick wit, dry humor, and a deep, genuine love for all things automotive.
Francis Bourgeois TikTok's favorite viral trainspotting sensation An infectious, wholesome enthusiasm, mechanical engineering chops, and pure petrolhead energy.

This lineup might seem like a wild experiment, but they aren't going in blind. In fact, they have already received the ultimate stamp of approval. In a promotional video released by Prime Video, Jeremy Clarkson himself sat down to review application portfolios. Upon reaching Francis Bourgeois' CV, Clarkson chuckled, dubbed him "the train man from the internet," and stamped it APPROVED.

"Same Show. New Knobs."

Amazon is leaning hard into the transition, promoting the reboot with the wonderfully cheeky tagline: "Same show. New knobs."

While the faces are new, the high-budget, high-concept DNA of the show remains completely intact. The new trio is diving straight into the deep end, taking on challenges that sound just as chaotic and dangerous as anything the original trio ever dreamed up.

What’s in store for the new season?

Amazon has teased that the upcoming six-episode run will feature the hosts: * Desert Storming: Crossing the unforgiving Angolan desert in delicate, track-focused sports cars. * Cultural Exploration: Diving deep into Malaysia's incredibly vibrant, underground car culture. * West Coast Speed: Heading to California to push cutting-edge hypercars and performance vehicles to their limits. * Fighter Jet Showdowns: Taking on actual fighter pilots in vehicular challenges. * Legal Warfare: Challenging an entire nation’s legal system (which sounds wonderfully classic Grand Tour).

"Absolutely Wild Environments"

If you're worried that the polished YouTube and TikTok backgrounds of the new hosts mean they'll be treated with kid gloves, think again.

Thomas Holland quickly dispelled any ideas of a pampered shoot:

"I figured someone would be there to hold our hand the whole time. Nope. We were on our own in some absolutely wild environments in very, VERY questionable cars."

Francis Bourgeois echoed the sentiment, recalling some of the gritty behind-the-scenes realities of filming:

"Since completing the filming of the series, I haven't stopped replaying every moment in my head... remembering the tent I shared with Thomas and James filled with sulphuric farts whilst Angolan jackals snooped around outside."

Mark Your Calendars

You won't have to wait to trickle through these episodes week by week. Amazon has confirmed that all six episodes of the new series will drop at once on September 4, 2026, exclusively on Prime Video.

It’s a massive gamble to reboot a show so closely tied to the legendary chemistry of Clarkson, Hammond, and May. But with the Throttle House boys bringing authentic car journalism and Francis bringing his golden-retriever-style passion to the screen, this just might be the breath of fresh air the franchise needs.
