Both brand continues where it left off in January with a new sales increase in Europe, last month.

According to Opel, preliminary figures show registrations of approximately 80,300 vehicles, up 15 percent, or around 10,500 units, compared to February of 2015, achieving a market share of 5.6 percent and celebrating its best February sales figures in the last five years.

“We grew in 17 markets thanks to our young and attractive portfolio. The new Astra was key for our success. The Astra Sports Tourer, available at dealers from April, and the new Mokka X will continue to drive our business after a strong start into the year”, commented the Opel Group Vice President of Sales and Aftersales, Peter Christian Kuspert.

The new 2016 European Car of the Year, the Astra, has received more than 18,000 orders in February, and another key vehicle in the firm’s lineup was the smaller Corsa, whose sales increased by around 12 percent to 20,400 units.

Opel claims registrations were up in 17 European markets last month, including the four large Western European countries such as Germany (+27 percent), Italy (+24 percent), France (+23 percent) and Spain (+23 percent).
