Vauxhall won three awards at the What Van Awards 2020 this afternoon including an overall Light Commercial Vehicle of the Year triumph for the Movano large van.
Movano was also named Large Van of the Year as well as Combo Cargo scooping the Light Van of the Year Award for the second year in a row.
Commenting on the Movano, James Dallas, Editor at What Van said: “Powered by an impressive range of 2.3-litre bi-turbo diesel engines, the Movano is up for grabs with a wide choice of loading capacities in both front- and rear-wheel drive. A sophisticated and practical cabin serves as a genuine mobile office and Vauxhall has also thrown a host of driver-assistance features into the mix. This Movano has set the bar high for whatever succeeds it.”
The Movano, the largest vehicle in Vauxhall’s portfolio, is available in four different lengths and three heights, carrying a maximum payload of up to 4.5 tonnes and 17 cubic metres of cargo. This means that, in certain configurations, the van can transport up to five Euro‑pallets, ensuring that there is a Movano for almost every need. Perfect for professional tradesmen, 120 different versions of the Movano are available ex works, allowing for numerous conversions for specialist requirements.
“The fact that the Combo Cargo has retained the Light Van of the Year Award shows it is still leading the pack,” added Dallas. “The Combo’s well kitted-out cabin with cutting edge technology and lots of storage space is complemented by engines and transmissions that can hold their own with the best in class. A strong dealer network and competitive pricing have seen Vauxhall return to the forefront of the light van sector.”
The Combo Cargo is offered in numerous variants, including short- or long-wheelbase, plus a spacious five-seater crew cab with two sliding doors as standard. Vauxhall’s compact van also outshines most of its main competitors with a load volume of up to 4.4m3, a payload of up to 1,000kg and a loading length of up to 3,440mm for objects and work material. The cleverly designed load area is wide enough to load up to two Euro-pallets – even in the standard wheelbase version. And extremely long items such as pipes and wooden planks can be stowed at an angle thanks to the optional roof hatch.
The Combo Cargo has enjoyed a particularly strong wave of success, having been honoured at numerous industry awards since its launch in September last year. The van was voted International Van of the Year 2019 by journalists across 25 European countries, and also crowned both Light Van of the Year 2019 and Light Commercial Vehicle of the Year 2019 by What Van?. Among the most impressive of the Combo Cargo’s accolades are Van of the Year at the 2019 Auto Express Awards, three wins at the Company Van Today Awards and, most recently, Best Small Van at Parkers New Car Awards 2020.
