Criminal Justice System Statistics (CJSS) have disclosed that the number of drug driving convictions has increased year-on-year, and reached 12,500 in 2019.
Drug drivers will be forced to undertake rehabilitation courses before being allowed back behind the wheel, under proposals from Transport Secretary Grant Shapps.
The National Travel Attitudes Survey, published by the Department for Transport, found that 63% of respondents agreed that ‘the laws on driving whilst impaired by illegal or legal drugs, are not properly enforced’.
