The breakdown provider has seen a marked increase in issues caused by potholes since the start of the month, with increased rainfall and standing water hiding issues in the road surface from sight.
AA Insurance submitted a Freedom of Information request to all 46 police forces across the UK and found that 542,370 vehicles have been taken away from drivers for not having insurance since 2018.
The AA published the alert because it expects 45% of UK drivers to embark on at least one non-commuting journey between Friday and Monday.
