PSA has lost no time updating the second-gen Insignia, one year after it entered production, we saw the first updated prototype testing in the wild.

The test mules have started dropping more and more camo, and the latest ones spied kept the vinyl to a minimum. The blue Insignia pictured in the gallery below is the regular Insignia Grand Sport whilst the white is the hotter GSi.

Spotted are the final production headlights, inspired by the new-gen Corsa, along with a new bumper and grille. The taillights seem to carry over without any changes, and the badges remain under wraps.

Nothing seems to have changed on the inside.

The GSi rides a tad closer to the road and adds redesigned front and rear bumpers, dual exhaust pipes, larger wheels and red Brembo brake calipers.

Powering the outgoing Insignia GSi is a 207Bhp with 354 lb-ft of torque 2.0-litre diesel, and a 256 hp with 295 lb-ft 2.0-litre petrol unit, paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission. However, it’s unknown whether these engines will carry over.

Still, the refreshed Insignia lineup might actually get new PSA units that will replace some of the outgoing engines designed by GM. A plug-in hybrid powertrain could also be in the cards.
