Season opener 2023 of the ADAC Opel Electric Rally Cup “powered by GSe” at the ADAC Rallye Sulingen.
Teams from seven nations will compete in eight attractive races. Three women’s teams enrich the world’s first electric one-make rally cup.
Thanks to an international field of participants and a spectacular schedule, the ADAC Opel Electric Rally Cup “powered by GSe” has become even more attractive this year. Teams from seven nations will compete in the third season of the world’s first electric one-make rally cup. The kick-off will take place on 5 and 6 May at the ADAC Actronics Rally in Sulingen. And no less than three of the 100 kW/136 hp Opel Corsa Rally Electric will be driven by all-female crews!
Last year, the Romanian duo Cristiana Oprea/Alexia Parteni already enriched the electrifying rally action. This season, they will be joined by two French crews who will compete as part of the FFSA Academy, a support program of the French Automobile Sports Federation.
Sarah Rumeau (28) celebrated her second title in the Ladies classification of the French Rally Championship last season. Her co-driver is Julie Amblard. The second Corsa Rally Electric in FFSA design is driven by Cindy Gudet. The 27-year-old has earned an excellent reputation as a hill climber. Five French championship titles speak for themselves. The rally novice’s co-driver is the experienced Cécile Marie.
Among the male teams, the Germans Max Reiter (23, Dillingen), Joe Baur (24, Renchen) and Christian Lemke (22, Martfeld) as well as the Swede Calle Carlberg (22), the Austrian Luca Pröglhöf (23) and the Dutchman Jari van Hoof (20) are six participants who already have Cup experience and are therefore undoubtedly among the favorites. The veterans will face strong competition from newcomers Johannes Wittenbeck (24, Emmering) as well as Terence Callea (26, France), Anthony Rott (23, France), David-Efraim Tarta (21, Romania) and Armiche Mendoza Silva (21, Spain).
There is also a good acquaintance at the opening event in Sulingen: trade journalist Jens Dralle (46), Head of the Test & Technology department at auto motor und sport, already gained experience in the Corsa-e Rally at the Hinterland Rally in 2021 and is now venturing into a round of the German Rally Championship (DRM). It will be led by Jara Hain, who was still a regular co-driver in the ADAC Opel e-Rally Cup in 2022.
The ADAC Opel Electric Rally Cup 2023 includes eight challenging events. Three appearances as part of the DRM are offset by foreign guest appearances in France (Rallye du Vosges Grand-Est and Rallye Mont-Blanc, Morzine), Austria (Rallye Weiz) and, for the first time, Switzerland (Rallye du Chablais). The highlight and finale of the season is the first start of an electric rally cup as part of the World Rally Championship at the Central European Rally in October.
