A decision on Circuit of Wales project will be made by the end of June, first minister Carwyn Jones has said.

The race track was originally expected to be up and running by 2016, but has twice been turned down by the Welsh Government, with a third bid currently under consideration.

Although economy and infrastructure secretary Ken Skates had previously said a decision would be taken by the end of March, it has not yet been made.

Speaking in the Senedd this afternoon (6 June), the first minister said a decision on the revised bid was due to be made within two weeks and announced by the end of the month.

He added the decision had been delayed as a result of the “due diligence” process.

“They would expect us in Blaenau Gwent to look at this very closely to ensure the project stands up on its own two feet,” he said.
