Vauxhall updates best-selling Corsa and Mokka range
Vauxhall has updated its best-selling Corsa and Mokka model ranges for 2023, introducing a new style, a compelling mixture of new technologies, and an updated powertrain option for the Mokka. These changes are effective on all new Corsa and Mokka orders.
MOKKA UPDATES
Central to the list of new features for the Mokka is the availability of a new turbocharged petrol engine.
The new 1.2 (136PS) Turbo with 6-speed manual transmission replaces the previous 1.2 (130PS) 6-speed manual and is offered alongside the current 130PS EAT8 automatic powertrain, and 100PS 1.2 Turbo 6-speed manual option. The new engine has been refined to reduce CO2 emissions from 141g/km to 125g/km (Combined High) without sacrificing any performance. The engine still develops 230Nm of torque from just 1,750rpm, enabling 0-60mph in 9.1 seconds and a top speed of 125mph. It records up to 51.4mpg (WLTP) depending on vehicle specification. The new engine is available across the entire range.
Alongside the new engine, the Mokka’s exterior design has been refined. Ultimate models embrace a sleek new appearance, with the previous iteration’s chrome exterior trim replaced with black trim. This includes a black painted rear spoiler and roof, black upper window moulding, black front and rear bumper inserts as well as a black Griffin logo and frame on the Vizor front end.
Mokka Ultimate now also features more equipment than before. Driver’s side power lumbar support and front massage seats are now standard equipment on all Ultimate variants, while every version of the Mokka now comes with High Beam Assist with Tunnel Detection.
The Mokka remains available with fully electric power. The Mokka Electric is offered in GS and Ultimate trim levels and receives the same trim upgrades to petrol versions. Prices for the new Mokka line-up begin from £24,010 OTR with the Mokka Electric available from £39,045 OTR.
CORSA UPDATES
Changes for the Corsa – Britain’s best-selling car currently – major on revised equipment levels across all versions.
Design models are further enhanced with a revised Automatic Emergency Braking function now featuring Pedestrian Detection. All Design variants continue to come standard with LED headlights with daytime running lights, High Beam Assist, Lane Departure Warning with Lane Keep Assist, Cruise Control with Intelligent Speed Limiter and a 7-inch colour touchscreen with Bluetooth, AM/FAM/DAB digital radio as well as Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ smartphone connectivity, underlining the value of the ‘entry-level’ Corsa’s offering.
The Corsa Electric GS receives LED front fog lights alongside its LED headlights and daytime running lights. LED front fog lights are already standard on petrol variants of the GS.
The top-of-the range Corsa Ultimate receives a raft of new equipment. Blind Spot Alert is now standard on both the Corsa Electric Ultimate and petrol variants of the supermini, while a driver’s seat with lumbar support and massage function is included. The massage function is performed in six cycles with breaks in between. It features two intensity levels, which activate for up to an hour at the press of a button.
The Corsa line-up opens from £18,585 OTR for the Design variants with a 1.2-litre (75PS) petrol engine and a five-speed manual gearbox. The Corsa Electric range begins from £33,930 OTR for the 136PS Corsa Electric GS, with a range of 222 miles (WLTP) on a full battery.
Across the entire Vauxhall passenger car range, the ‘GS Line’ trim name has been renamed ‘GS’.

Vauxhall Mokka earns four stars in latest safety ratings
The Vauxhall Mokka has fallen short of full marks in the latest Euro NCAP safety ratings.
The latest round of testing, which looks at how cars perform in various collisions as well as what safety systems they offer, shows the Mokka did not excel in any area.
The crossover was described as being ‘firmly in four-star territory’. The second-generation model has now moved to a new Stellantis vehicle platform.
Euro NCAP said the car “fails to break the five-star threshold in any area of assessment, including that of child occupant protection.” It was also noted for having no autonomous emergency braking for cyclist protection.
Euro NCAP’s secretary general, Michiel van Ratingen, said: “Stellantis seems to accept lower performance in general, and the new Mokka lacks some critical safety systems that have become increasingly commonplace by now. The latest edition clearly lacks the ambition of the previous Mokka that was a runner-up of 2012 Best in Class in the Small Family category.”
