Spy photographers have done their job and let one of GM’s biggest product launches of 2017 out of the bag. The 2018 Insignia Grand Sport and Sports Tourer have been spotted completely uncovered during what seems to be a photo shoot.
And, if you liked the Monza concept, you’ll be thrilled to see the production Insignia Grand Sport and Insignia Sports Tourer don’t deviate from the overall design motif. The 2018 Insignia Grand Sport features a lower, sleeker stance, which plays well with the rear liftback design.
As for the Sports Tourer, it looks absolutely massive with a cave for cargo space at the rear, but also remains just as sharp as the Insignia Grand Sport.
Both of these vehicles seem to be fitted with Opel’s OPC trimmings, which means larger 20-inch wheels, Brembo brakes and a tidy rear spoiler at the rear. The wagon also shows off a much more aggressive looking ground effects package for the OPC line.
This is big news for General Motors brands globally. The 2018 Insignia and its variants will not only be sold as an Vauxhall and Opel in Europe and , but will reach North America as the 2018 Buick Regal, and Australia as the 2018 Holden NG Commodore.
We know we will likely stick with turbocharged four-cylinders, but Holden will receive a 3.6-liter LGX V6, all-wheel drive variant, and the V6 has also been considered for 2018 Buick Regal, too.
GM will reportedly reveal the Insignia online this month ahead of its public debut at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show. The 2018 Buick Regal has been rumored to debut at the 2017 New York Auto Show, while the 2018 Holden Commodore will wait until early 2018 to show face, following the shutdown of local 2017 VF Commodore Series II production.
